2013 Big Sky Te Muna Pinot Noir
Tasting Notes:
Colour: Medium ruby-purple in colour
Bouquet: Red currants, raspberries and black cherries with touches of loam and forest floor
Palate: Medium bodied and elegantly fruited, it fills the back palate with juicy red fruit and earthy flavours, grainy tannins.
Food Match: Great with duck, venison, game, and lamb
Cellaring: Start drinking 2015 and can be cellared for up to 5 years.
Winemaking Notes:
Growing Region: Te Muna Road, Martinborough
Variety: Pinot Noir -- clone 115 (80%) 10-5 (10%) and Abel (10%)
Viticulture: 23 and 14 year old vines. Harvested at 24 brix. Windswept alluvial terrace. Crop managed to 1.5 t/ acre.
Winemaking: 20% whole bunches added to the whole berry ferment. 7 days cold soak, 7 days ferment, 10 days maceration before pressing.
Maturation: 11 months in 20% new French oak barriques.
Wine Analysis: Alc 13.2 pH 3.72 RS 1.5g/L
